Mini Crochet Owls

Crochet a mini owl to stargaze or analyze fossils with you. This crochet pattern isn’t of Blathers and Celeste but is inspired by the Animal Crossing characters.

These crochet mini owls were inspired by Blathers and his sister Celeste from the Animal Crossing franchise.

Animal Crossing is such a wholesome video game and I’m so happy I could design a pattern inspired by the characters.

Amigurumi Owls

These mini crochet owls measure 4” tall. This is a free beginner pattern. This pattern is worked in the round and a stitch marker and row counter are highly recommended. Sewing pins help keep the limbs in place while attaching.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 ball of worsted weight in brown/pink

Abbreviations:

ch=chain
sc=single crochet
ss=slip stitch
st(s)=stitch(es)
F/O=fasten off
inc=increase
dec=decrease

Gauge:

16 stitches x 16 rows = 4” in single crochet

Crochet Pattern:

Body/Head:
Use brown/pink. The pattern starts at bottom of the body.
1. Ch 2. 6 sc in the first ch. Do not join.
2. 2 sc in each st around.
3. *1 sc, inc. Repeat from * around.
4. Sc in each st around.
5. *2 sc, inc. Repeat from * around.
6. Sc in each st around.
7. *3 sc, inc. Repeat from * around.
8 – 15. Sc in each st around.
Attach safety eyes in round 14, 4 sts apart.
16. *3 sc, dec. Repeat from * around.
17. *2 sc, dec. Repeat from * around.
Stuff.
18. *1 sc, dec. Repeat from * around.
19. Dec around.
Ss and F/O. Use the tail to sew up the hole at the top of the head.

Wings:
Use brown/pink. Make two.
1. Ch 2. 8 sc in the first ch. Do not join.
2 – 11. Sc in each st around.
Ss and F/O. Do not stuff wings. Leave a long enough tail to attach wings to the body at around 12.

Ears/Head Feathers:
Use brown/pink. Make two.
1. Ch 2. 6 sc in the first ch. Do not join.
2. Sc in each st around.
3. *1 sc, inc. Repeat from * around.
4. Sc in each st around.
Ss and F/O. Stuff. Leave a long enough tail to attach to the top of the head, slightly off to the side.

Beak:
Use yellow
1. Ch 2. 4 sc in the first ch. Do not join.
2 – 3. Sc in each st around.
Ss and F/O. Lightly stuff. Leave a long enough tail to attach the beak to the head, just below and in between the eyes.

Feet:
Use yellow
1. Ch 2. 4 sc in the first ch. Do not join.
2. 2 sc in each st around.
3. Sc in each st around.
Ss and F/O. Lightly stuff. Leave a long enough tail to attach to the body on rounds 3 and 4, off to the side.
