Hi everyone!

Today I’m going to show you how to make a 5 minute crochet hair scrunchy with a yarn that is perfect to wear during the holidays. This is a free crochet pattern.

The great thing about this crochet hair scrunchy pattern is you can substitute the holiday yarn for any yarn you like and make scrunchies for every occasion possible. In the past, I’ve used leftover faux fur yarn and velvet yarn. Make sure you use the appropriate hook size if you use a yarn that’s larger or smaller than a size 4!

My candy cane crochet hair scrunchy pattern is quick and easy, and 100% meant perfect for beginners. These crochet hair scrunchies are amazing to make as last-minute gifts and stocking stuffers!

holiday hair scrunchies

I used a size 4 medium-weight yarn, specifically Bernat Handicrafter Cotton in Mistletoe. This yarn created a hair scrunchy with the perfect classic candy cane design for the holidays. A 5mm crochet hook was used. The hair scrunchies below were made with Go for Faux yarn and a 6.50mm crochet hook.

what you’ll need:

  • Yarn

abbreviations:

ch=chain
ss=slip stitch
dc=double crochet
F/O=fasten off

pattern:

1. Ss your yarn around your hair tie.
2. Ch 3.
3. Dc around the hair tie.
4. Repeat until the scrunchie is as full as you’d like it to be.
5. Ss into the 3rd ch of the first row.
6. F/O and weave in your two tails.
