Sweet Snuggles Yarn Review
The famous TikTok trending yarn, Sweet Snuggles is what everyone is using to crochet amigurumi these days. Find out if this yarn by Loops & Threads is for you with my honest review. Free amigurumi pattern included!
Hi everyone!
Ever since the crochet chunky TikTok bee appeared on the internet, using jumbo-size yarn has become more common for amigurumi. Sweet Snuggles by Loops & Threads is a popular yarn for adorable crochet plushies. I went to purchase some for my crochet cow pattern and the yarn was sold out due to its popularity.
Because I love this brand so much, I was very disappointed with how I felt about this chunky yarn. When I realized that it took me months to complete my cow because I had to force myself to finish it, I admitted my dislike for this yarn.

What Is Sweet Snuggles Yarn?
Sweet Snuggles yarn is a 100% polyester blend and size 7 jumbo yarn. This yarn is recommended for comfy accents and décor for nurseries and to use an 11mm crochet hook. Since I’m an amigurumi designer, I used an 8mm hook to get the tight stitches I needed.
Colour:
I’ve always enjoyed Loops & Threads for their wide range of yarn colors, and Sweet Snuggles does not disappoint in that regard. Sweet Snuggles comes in 21 different colors that vary from pale pastels to bold and bright. All the colors are solid. You’ll find no variegated yarn here, except for their Sweet Snuggles Lite line.
Feel:
I have a lot of things to say about how this yarn felt. Mainly a mix of “OoOo” and “ew!” Sweet Snuggles is accurate because this yarn is squishy and soft, but it also left a weird feeling on my hands and dried them out terribly. I had to use so much hand cream while crocheting my cow! If you hate the feeling of cotton balls, this is not the yarn for you.
Ease Of Use:
Besides having to lotion up every 10 minutes, Loops & Threads Sweet Snuggles is an easy chunky yarn to work with. Unlike thick faux fur yarn, you can easily see your stitches. I also love how nicely it glides on my hook. For reference, I used the 8mm aluminum crochet hook by Loops & Threads. It was $8.99. It has a grip and is so comfortable to hold in my hand. I love it.
Skill Level:
100% beginner-level friendly. I recommend starting with chunky yarn and large crochet hooks when learning how to crochet. I mean, maybe not THIS big, but at least a size 5 or 6 yarn. The stitches were so easy to identify that a beginner should have no problem working with this yarn, most patterns for this yarn are easy, and it works up quickly.
Shedding (BONUS):
Sweet Snuggles yarn sheds so terribly that I decided to give it a new category. I could look past the shedding if it only occurred when weaving in the ends as Chenille Home did, but even completed projects were shedding. The constant shedding makes me worry too much about the longevity of my plushies, and that thought makes me uncomfortable selling stuffed animals crocheted with this yarn to others. If it can’t even handle the air touching it without falling apart, then I don’t feel comfortable selling anything made with it to anyone. It’s a customer service nightmare waiting to happen.
I’ll give Sweet Snuggles yarn 2 out of 5 stars.
Overall, I’ll maybe use this yarn in the future because it was so easy and quick to crochet cute giant amigurumi with, but I’m not going to go out of my way to use it. If you want good chunky yarn, I recommend Bernat Blanket Yarn. It’s the same bang for your buck, has no shedding, and is easy to use.
