Vintage Crochet Santa Ornaments
It’s the time to be merry, bright and crochet! Make ornaments and quick stocking stuffers with this free crochet mini Santa pattern that looks like Grandma’s vintage décor.

This was a pattern that I created last Christmas after my hubby got me some Furls Odyssey crochet hooks. I just had to try them out as soon as I got them, so I designed a pattern for a vintage crochet Santa. This is a free crochet pattern.
My grandma has plushie ornaments that she hangs all over her Christmas tree and I’ve always loved them. Those ornaments were a huge inspiration for this Santa ornament crochet pattern.
The vintage crochet Santa can be used as an ornament, a stocking stuffer, or made into a keychain. It is made as one piece except for the beard, which is crocheted separately and attached. This is a beginner crochet pattern.
You can also use this pattern to crochet an elf. Just substitute the red yarn for green and leave the beard off!

Santa Crochet Pattern
This ornament measures approximately 3.5” in height and 1.5” wide. This pattern is worked in the round and a stitch marker is highly recommended. This pattern is worked as one piece and starts at the bottom of the amigurumi. Stuff Santa as you go.
what you’ll need:
1 100g ball of Lion Brand Feels Like Butta in Red
1 100g ball of Lion Brand Skein Tones in Peachy
1 ball of Bernat Premium Yarn in White
6mm Safety Eyes
Polyfill (stuffing)
Scissors
Stitch Marker
Darning Needle
abbreviations:
ch=chain
sc=single crochet
st(s)=stitch(es)
F/O=fasten off
inc=increase
dec=decrease
Gauge:
24 sts x 24 rows = 4” in single crochet
Pattern:
Body: Use red.
1. Ch 2. 6 sc in the first ch. Do not join. (6 sts)
2. 2 sc in each st around. (12 sts)
3. *1 sc, inc. Repeat from * around. (18 sts)
4. *2 sc, inc. Repeat from * around. (24 sts)
5 – 7. Sc in each st around. (24 sts)
8. *2 sc, dec. Repeat from * around. (18 sts)
Switch to white.
9. *1 sc, dec. Repeat from * around. (12 sts)
Switch to peach.
10. *1 sc, inc. Repeat from * around. (18 sts)
11 – 14. Sc in each st around. (18 sts)
Attach safety eyes in round 13, about 2 sts apart. Switch to white.
15. *1 sc, dec. Repeat from * around. (12 sts)
Switch to red.
16 – 18. Sc in each st around. (12 sts)
19. Dec around. (6 sts)
20. Sc in each st around. (6 sts)
F/O. Leave a long enough tail to sew the hole shut. Attach the end of the tail to the top of the hat so you can hang it on your tree.
Beard:
Use white.
1. Ch 7. Sc in the 2nd ch from hook. Sc across. (6 sts)
2. Ch 1. Turn. Dec. Sc in the next 2 sts. Dec. (4 sts)
3. Ch 1. Turn. Decx2. (2 sts)
4. Ch 1. Turn. Dec. (1 st)
5. Ch 1. Turn. Sc around the beard with 2 sc in the corners.
Ss and F/O. Leave a long enough tail to attach to the face, one round under the eyes.
You now have an adorable little Santa ornament to hang on your tree! I love this design as it reminds me of the vintage ornaments from my grandmother’s tree. Santa works up quickly and is perfect to make gifts for people this Christmas.
